200 YARD RIFLE RANGE NOTICE

The 200yd rifle range is set to open Wednesday morning July 31, 2019.

We expect there will be a mad rush to get out there, but be warned, there are only about 8 or 9 target stands.  Don’t expect to find a target stand out there reserved for you with your name on it.

Many of the members have learned to carry a homemade portable target stand in their vehicles when they come out to the range.  All members should accept this as becoming the “norm” when travelling to the range.  We don’t have the volunteers to help build target stands every two weeks.

Enjoy the new range, it was built for all members.  Please keep it clean for yourself and the other members.  Our range Re-Approval License Inspection is coming up on August 14, 2019 and part of the approval license is based on range cleanliness which relates to safety.

Garbage seems to be accumulating at our facility at an accelerated pace and we don’t have the volunteers to help clean the facility.

We ask all members from now on  –  Whatever part of our facility you use:

“PLEASE TAKE YOUR GARBAGE HOME WITH YOU”

Enjoy the new range – but please – “SAFETY FIRST”.

The Provincials consist of shooting two targets, a written exam and field trials for a possible perfect score of 400 20x. The goal for the day is to win the John Labatt Trophy for Team Champions – best score out of 2000 100x this year won by Brandon with a score of 1989 67x.

TANNERITE BINARY EXPLODING TARGETS

Legislation concerning the use of “Exploding Targets” has been relaxed and the use of these types of targets may soon be available to recreational shooters.

However, the position of the Selkirk Game & Fish Association with regard to “Exploding Targets” is as follows.

“EXPLODING TARGETS OF ANY KIND WILL NOT BE ALLOWED

TO BE USED ON THE PROPERTY OF THE SELKIRK GAME & FISH

ASSOCIATION AT ANY TIME.”
